Pioneer Square, where the wealthiest and the poorest of our city occupy the same three acres together. Based on actual as well as historical people and situations, People in the Square is a collection of songs and short scenes, depicting one of the oldest areas of the city and Seattle’s original neighborhood.

This musical honors the original residents of this land, the Suquamish and Duwamish Indigenous Peoples, as well as the early pioneers, the gold miners, those who make their homes on the street, the millennials, art dealers, sports fans and the Seattle Coffee Connoisseurs, many of these groups, never being aware of the other.

People in the Square strives to bring awareness, understanding, acceptance and even some laughter to those who stroll through this ever evolving melting pot of Downtown Seattle.

Creative Hiatus Productions acknowledges that this Indigenous land now called Pioneer Square is the ancestral land of the Coast Salish people, which includes many tribes and nations. We honor and respect the fact that we are on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish Tribe, and many others, past and present.
